This winterization project aims to provide cash for food assistance to 700 vulnerable households in the districts of Chaparhar, Hogyani, and Rodat in Nangarhar Province. The project is designed to help families cope with the harsh winter conditions by enabling them to purchase essential food and winterization items, such as fuel and warm clothing, ensuring that they have the necessary resources to survive the winter months.

YVO works in close coordination with Afghan authorities, the Food Security Cluster, WFP (World Food Programme), local communities, and other stakeholders to carefully select beneficiaries and ensure that the assistance reaches those who are most in need.

The project is being implemented with strict adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability. This ensures transparency, effectiveness, and the provision of high-quality support to the target communities.

Key Activities:

Coordination:
YVO collaborates with Afghan authorities, humanitarian organizations, and local communities to ensure smooth implementation of the winterization program. Coordination efforts include beneficiary selection, logistics, and ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned in their approach.

Beneficiary Selection (Survey):
A detailed survey process is carried out to select the most vulnerable households in the targeted districts. The selection criteria consider factors such as food insecurity, economic hardship, and vulnerability to winter-related challenges.

Token/Cash Distribution:
Once beneficiaries are selected, cash or tokens are distributed to eligible households. The cash assistance allows families to purchase food items and winterization supplies, helping them meet both immediate food needs and prepare for the winter months.

Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM):
After the distribution, YVO conducts post-distribution monitoring (PDM) to assess the effectiveness and impact of the assistance. This monitoring process helps ensure that the funds were used as intended and provides valuable feedback for future distributions.

This winterization program is important in helping vulnerable families in Nangarhar survive the harsh winter conditions, ensuring they have the necessary resources to maintain their health and well-being during the coldest months of the year.
