This project aims to provide cash for food assistance to 517 households across three districts—Chaparhar, Hogyani, and Rodat—in Nangarhar Province. The initiative focuses on vulnerable families who are in urgent need of support due to ongoing challenges in the region. YVO coordinates closely with Afghan authorities, the Food Security Cluster, WFP (World Food Programme), local communities, and other key stakeholders to identify and select eligible beneficiaries.

The project is being implemented with a strong commitment to the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability, ensuring that all activities are carried out with the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and efficiency.

Key Activities:

Coordination:
YVO works in close collaboration with Afghan authorities, humanitarian partners, and local communities to ensure that all aspects of the project are coordinated effectively. This includes selecting beneficiaries, ensuring that all logistical arrangements are in place, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.

Beneficiary Selection (Survey):
A thorough survey process is conducted to identify and select the most vulnerable households in the targeted districts. This process involves assessing the needs of households, considering factors such as food insecurity, economic hardship, and other vulnerabilities.

Token/Cash Distribution:
Once beneficiaries are selected, the project distributes cash or tokens to eligible households. The cash assistance allows families to purchase essential food items, empowering them to meet their nutritional needs while contributing to local markets.

Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM):
After the distribution, YVO conducts post-distribution monitoring (PDM) to assess the effectiveness of the cash assistance and identify any areas for improvement. PDM activities ensure accountability and provide valuable feedback that can be used to improve future distributions.

This project plays a critical role in alleviating food insecurity in the target districts of Nangarhar, ensuring that vulnerable households receive the support they need to improve their food security and well-being.
